The primary objectives and purposes of this Corporation shall be to promote public awareness of domestic and international human rights issues and/or environmental impacts through information dissemination, artistic expression, education projects and private enforcement of environmental protection statutes.

Our Children's Earth:

Advocates on behalf of our children - who are most vulnerable to pollution - to enable them to breathe clean air and use clean water.
Educates the public about the health problems caused by pollution in their neighborhoods.
Empowers affected communities to take action to reduce pollution.

Our Children's Earth Foundation (OCE) was founded with the goal of protecting the public by enforcing the Clean Air Act. Through a combined strategy of litigation against agencies in violation of the Clean Air Act, outreach programs to educate the public about their rights, and advocacy projects that place pressure on the government entities, OCE has successfully fought for cleaner, healthier air.

OCE is the brainchild of its Executive Director, Ms. Tiffany Schauer, who has spent more than ten years serving in various environmental litigation roles. Ms. Schauer's varied positions, including serving as an enforcement attorney at the Environmental Protection Agency, working as a Senior Attorney at a major Environmental law firm, and being appointed a Bay Area Air Quality Management District Hearing Board officer, permitted her to examine air quality from several vastly different perspectives. During the course of her career she discovered that the attacks on our clean air standards are not occurring in statehouses and legislative sessions, where the glare of public attention would be too great. Instead, the attacks most often occur in bureaucratic back rooms, out of the public eye, in obscure government entities where polluting industries can influence the decision-making process without risking the wrath of public opposition.

The form of the threat is as basic as it is destructive --- our clean air laws simply are not being enforced. From EPA consent decrees that turn a blind eye to major Clean Air Act violations, to regional air districts that rubber-stamp pollution permits whenever requested by individual polluters, our nation's clean air laws are being misinterpreted, circumvented, or simply ignored.

OCE began by augmenting its small staff through partnerships with a top Bay Area Law Clinic, Golden Gate University's Environmental Law and Justice Clinic, and several community-based non-profits. Then the group began targeting strategic litigation, monitoring regulatory bodies, and educating the public. Today, OCE has matured in size and stature, and is pleased to be making a difference in air quality for the Bay Area and the entire United States.
