Our fight is as important as ever. The people who are the most vulnerable -- children and senior citizens -- suffer the most. A recent study has shown that children playing sports in smoggy areas are three times more likely to develop asthma. Another recently published study shows that there is a definitive link between lung cancer risk and extended exposure to fine particles of pollution from power plants and diesel engines. It compared the effects of this kind of pollution with second-hand cigarette smoke.
