At the Barricades

After nearly five decades of incarceration, Indigenous activist Leonard Peltier was granted executive clemency by President Joe Biden on January 19, 2025. This historic decision commuted Peltier's life sentence to home confinement, allowing the 80-year-old member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians to return to his ancestral homelands in Belcourt, North Dakota .

The campaign continues to educate young people about environmental justice, Indigenous rights, and legal advocacy, ensuring that Peltier's story and the lessons it embodies remain a vital part of our collective consciousness.
